Veraci Pizza

Veraci Pizza

Owners Seth and Laura Carey are dishing up delicious pizzas to the Kendall Yards neighborhood in Spokane. They started out in July 2009 serving up tasty pizza delights from their mobile oven at The Liberty Lake Farmers Market, Downtown Coeur d’Alene market and South Perry Farmers Market, and within five years added additional events including the Green Bluff Fall Fest, frequent outings at the Hop Shop on the South Hill, as well as many private events.

After years of a successful restaurant on wheels, it was time to go big and find a permanent restaurant location. Without the advantage of prior restaurant experience, the couple was in for the challenge. “We knew going from a mobile business to a brick and mortar would be challenging, but I’m not sure there’s any way to truly prepare for such a jump,” says Laura. “Add on to that, we had a ‘surprise’ third child who arrived three months prior to opening, and we were a bit overwhelmed for most of 2014.“

Despite the setbacks, the couple opened their brick and mortar location in Kendall Yards that same year. The family friendly casual space is perfect for big sports fans, as there’s always a game on one of their TVs. From prom groups and sports enthusiasts, to concert goers, couples and families, Veraci caters to all. The menu consists of appetizers, salads, wood-fired thin-crust pizzas with vegetarian and gluten-free options, and desserts. The six rotating draft beers—often from local breweries—as well as the wide selection of bottled beer and wine are a perfect match with the cuisine.

The most popular items are the Caesar salad and Spicy Tony pizza with their spicy red sauce topped with Italian sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, provolone and Veraci’s three-cheese blend. Those looking for a delicious gluten-free dough option are in luck! They make their own in house. House specials are rotated every two weeks, and various menu changes are made seasonally, incorporating seasonal items purchased from local farmers markets.

The restaurant seats 80 inside, with an additional 40 seats outdoors on the patio. “We have a beautiful view of Downtown Spokane and the Spokane River from our patio, which is in high demand during the warmer seasons,” says Laura. “We really feel that our view belongs to the citizens of this community, so we love that we get to share it with everyone!”

Stop by Veraci Pizza on a Wednesday evening when the Kendall Yards Night Market is running, and you will see that Kendall Yards has a vibe unlike any neighborhood in the area. “There is truly something special that is happening here,” Laura says.
