The last chance to party hard before the season of Lent is the ever popular Mardi Gras. There are celebrations all over the world including some of the more famous parties in Rio and New Orleans. This season you won’t need a plane ticket to enjoy Mardi Gras, as a grand party will be held in downtown Coeur d’Alene. The Coeur d’Alene Arts and Culture Alliance is hosting its second annual Krewe d’Alene Mardi Gras party, Saturday, February 18 from 5:30 to 10pm at the Resort Plaza Shops.
Guests will be amazed as the interior is redecorated by local artists and transformed into the French Quarter of New Orleans. You’ll have a chance to stop in for a drink in the re-creation of America’s oldest bar—The Pirate’s Den, Lafitte’s BlackSmith Shop Bar. Chefs from Angelo’s, Bistro on Spruce, Bonsai, Hay J’s, Moon Time, Seasons and Sweet Lou’s will provide traditional New Orleans style dishes. There will be street entertainment and live music provided by Twisted Biscuit and Gumbo Brass Jazz Trio. After dinner and drinks, head over to the café for traditional beignets and a café au lait.
Tickets to the party are $50 and are available through the Coeur d’Alene Arts and Culture Alliance and on their website at www.artsandculturecda.org. Included with admission is food and drink as well as a souvenir pint glass to take home. Additional prizes will be awarded for the best costume and most spirited reveler. Costumes are strongly encouraged but not mandatory. Beads and masks will also be available for purchase inside. Kick off the season of Lent right without having to travel far from home and help support a local organization dedicated to keeping our arts scene vibrant, unique and multi-cultural.
